Alcohol control database
The European alcohol information system (EAIS) provides data to track and assess the alcohol policies and situations within and across countries. The information is targeted to policy/decision-makers, prevention and control programme staff, researchers and global partners and others working with alcohol prevention. With this information, national authorities can critically evaluate their own alcohol policy situations in light of the experiences of other countries and turn lessons learned into enhancement of their own national efforts.

Sources of data
The EAIS data are obtained from WHO national counterparts for the European Alcohol Action Plan in the European Region. In addition, data from the health for all (HFA) database and some other national and international data sources on consumption and harm are presented.

Country-specific data available
Data are presented by country. There are 7 data sets per country, including restrictions on alcohol consumption, drunk driving, sales restrictions, promotion and treatment. There is also a link to the health for all (HFA) database on consumption and alcohol related harm. Data are presented in graphical and tabular forms.

Data to compare countries are also available. There are tables with information on alcohol prevention programmes, restrictions on consumption in public places, drunk driving, sale-restrictions, advertising and some elements on implementation of a national alcohol policy.
